Disable registration page
If you would prefer to collect webinar registrations in a different way or simply want to put a stop to registrations, you can disable the registration page. Follow the steps below:
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Disable the switch next to ‘Allow registrations via registration page’
People will still be able to visit your webinar’s registration page if they have the link, but can no longer sign up for the webinar.
Change registration page URL
When you first create your webinar, the chosen title is used for the registration page link. If you change the title later on or simply want the link to be different, you can manually change the URL. Follow the steps below:
Please note! If you change the URL of the registration page, the old link will no longer work.
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Under ‘Link to registration page’, click on the pencil icon
Change the link and then press ‘Save’
Please note! Only the part of the URL that comes after the ‘/’ can be changed this way. The part before ‘.webinargeek’ is the subdomain and can only be changed by contacting our support.
Custom confirmation page
Normally, the registration page functions as the confirmation page after sign-up. However, you can also configure your own custom confirmation page URL for people to be redirected to. Follow these steps:
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Scroll down to ‘Redirect users to a custom URL after sign-up’
Click the pencil icon and enter the URL of your custom confirmation page
Click ‘Save’
Custom registration links
When you start promoting your webinar in different locations, you might like to know who registered through which promotional channel. By using custom registration links you can measure where the registrations are coming from. Follow the steps to create a custom registration link:
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Create a custom registration link by clicking 'Add custom link'.
Enter a unique link name, e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn or summer-campaign and press 'Generate'.
You can now copy the registration link and promote it on the appropriate channels. The webinar statistics will show who registered with which custom link. The .CSV file you can export will also have an additional column titled ‘Custom registration link’.
You can click ‘Add custom link’ again to add another one.
Tip! Custom registration links can also be used with embed forms. Read more about that here.
Conversion tracking is also possible with the direct integrations we offer for tracking or by using Zapier to connect your favorite software with WebinarGeek.
Metadata settings
What is metadata?
Metadata is hidden information tied to an internet page that describes what the page is for. For example, a webinar registration page’s metadata contains information like the webinar title, a description of the content and an image. This data is then used by other websites, such as social media and search engines, to show what the registration page is for. It’s also used for the calendar invites that come with your confirmation emails.
Optimizing your metadata means that your webinar is more likely to be found in search engines like Google when people search for webinars about a certain topic, potentially increasing your amount of attendees!
Editing your registration page’s metadata
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Scroll down to ‘Metadata settings’
Click ‘Edit metadata settings’
Enter a ‘Title meta tag’ or leave it blank if you want to use the webinar title. This should be 30 to 60 characters long for optimal results and is the title shown in social media posts, search engines and calendar invites.
Enter a ‘Description meta tag’. This should be 70 to 155 characters long for optimal results and is the description shown in social media posts, search engines and calendar invites.
Upload an image (recommended) or leave it blank if you want to use the registration page banner. This image is shown in social media posts.
Removing your registration page from search engines
If you want to keep your webinar private, you can disable it appearing in search engines such as Google. This is done automatically if you create a webinar as ‘Unlisted’ or ‘Private’.
Follow these steps to make sure your webinar registration page doesn’t appear on search engines:
Find your webinar in your webinar overview and click its title
Click the ‘Edit webinar’ button
Go to ‘Registration’
Scroll down to ‘Metadata settings’
Click ‘Edit metadata settings’
Uncheck the box next to ‘Enable indexing so search engines can find your registration page.’.
Social media is using old text or an old image
Facebook and other social media platforms 'remember' old metadata so they don’t have to load it over and over again. If you share the same link twice while editing the metadata in between, social media will use the data they loaded when you shared it the first time.
Reloading metadata for Facebook
If your Facebook posts are using old metadata, follow these steps to update it:
Make sure you’re logged in to Facebook
Enter the link of your webinar registration page
Click ‘Debug’
Click ‘Scrape again’
Facebook should now use the new metadata for any new posts you make.
Reloading metadata for LinkedIn
If your LinkedIn posts are using old metadata, follow these steps to update it:
Enter the link of your webinar registration page
Click ‘Inspect’
LinkedIn should now use the new metadata for any new posts you make.
View without registration
By default, webinars require a registration to be watched. However, you can also share the direct link that allows attendees to watch your webinar without registering.
