HubSpot marketing events are a way to have an overview of your web-based events like a webinar. Hosting web-based events takes quite a bit of effort and with marketing events you can easily see if your time and resources were well spent.

By connecting WebinarGeek webinars to HubSpot marketing events. It's easy to see which of your events have a higher ROI (return of investment) than others and see if an event had the desired result that you were hoping for. In the marketing event activity you can see how many people have registered to an event. You will also be able to see who canceled, attended and didn’t show up to the event when it is over.

Activate the HubSpot marketing events integration

You can learn how to connect HubSpot to WebinarGeek here.

Please note! If your current HubSpot integration was set up before 4th of June 2022, you will need to reconnect the HubSpot integration to grant us the new rights that are needed for marketing events. This can be achieved by going to 'Account' > 'Integrations' > 'HubSpot' > 'Options' > 'Reconnect HubSpot'. Afterwards, you will have to manually add the triggers and actions shown below.

All your webinars that existed prior to adding marketing event triggers to your integration will not have an accurate representation of their marketing event activity in HubSpot.

Setting up the marketing events integration

After activating your HubSpot integration there will automatically be a set of four triggers and actions added to your account. These are used to track the activity of your event. These triggers will be set up on an account level. By default, all your webinars will be synced to HubSpot marketing events. You can disable account level triggers on a webinar level to exclude a webinar.

The following trigger - action combinations need to be set up to properly track webinars with HS marketing events. If you happen to accidentally delete a trigger you can easily add them back.

What you should know about the HubSpot marketing events integration

  • The marketing event gets created in HubSpot after the webinar receives its first registration.

  • If you change the title of the webinar or the date of a broadcast the event will get updated after one of the following triggers is executed: ‘New registration’, ‘New viewer’ or ‘Unsubscribed from webinar’. Therefore, you could force the update by adding a (fake) registration.

  • Subscribers that watch a replay of the webinar will also activate the ‘New viewer’ trigger, this means that the event activity of your webinar may change for as long as the replay is available.

  • All webinars that existed prior to adding marketing event triggers to your account might not have an accurate representation of their event activity in HubSpot.

  • In case of a webinar series, each webinar will be a separate marketing event in HubSpot
