People often get dozens of emails on a daily basis, much of it unwanted. That’s why email software introduced ways to unsubscribe from emails and/or mark them as spam, so that you don’t receive them anymore.
When webinar subscribers do this with webinar emails from WebinarGeek, it puts them on a suppression list and makes it so that they can’t receive emails anymore about any of your webinars. Emails sent to them are then permanently bounced: they don’t receive any emails from WebinarGeek anymore.
There are multiple ways to end up on this suppression list. For example, people might use an email software’s ‘Unsubscribe’ button to unsubscribe from a webinar, instead of the ‘Unsubscribe’ button in the email. This can put them on the suppression list without that being their intention. Or maybe they don’t mean to unsubscribe at all and just click it by accident. In these situations, people will often notice they aren’t receiving any emails and contact you to troubleshoot it.
Removing someone from the suppression list
Please note! Only remove email addresses from the suppression list when you receive a complaint from them about not receiving webinars emails, or have otherwise gotten their permission to do so.
Click ‘Account’ in the top right.
Click ‘My account’.
Go to ‘Email’ under ‘Advanced’.
Click ‘Suppression list’.
In the text box, enter the email address you’d like to remove from the suppression list.
Click the ‘Remove from suppression list’ button.
The removal will appear in the list of ‘Recent removals’ on the bottom of the page, where you can see if the removal succeeded or failed.
Frequently asked questions
How can I tell if someone is on the suppression list?
There is no surefire way to tell, but if every single email sent to that person is listed as ‘Bounced’ in your statistics, it’s possible that they’re on the suppression list.
I removed someone from the suppression list but their emails are still getting bounced
There are other reasons why emails may bounce. For example, there may be a typo in the email address, the email domain may no longer exist, the mailbox may be full, or the recipient's email server may block the email.
Why is there a limit of 5 removals per week?
This is to prevent abuse. We don’t want our users removing every single email address that has bounced emails from the suppression list. This feature is specifically for the rare case when a subscriber explicitly tells you they aren’t receiving emails but would like to receive them.
