Want to use a prerecorded video for the webinar but still have a live Q&A session at the end? Hybrid webinars are the solution.

Hybrid webinars are webinars consisting of both a recording and a live part. This allows you to, for example, pre-record the presentation itself but hold a live Q&A session once the recording has ended.

Creating a hybrid webinar

In order to create a hybrid webinar, all you have to do is follow the steps for creating a live webinar and add the pre-recorded video(s) to it as video injections.

  1. Go to the webinar overview and click ‘+ New webinar’.

  2. Choose ‘Live’.

  3. Name your webinar, select a language, configure an estimated duration and pick one of the predefined access settings. Now choose a date and time and configure the rest of the settings to your liking before pressing ‘Create webinar’.

  4. Navigate to ‘Webinar’ > ‘Webinar page’ and press ‘Manage videos’. Use the dropdown menu to select the video you’d like to show during the webinar. Don’t have any videos in your list just yet? Make sure to check our article on adding videos.

You can configure the rest of the webinar as you would a regular live webinar. Make sure to check our ‘Creating a webinar’ section of the Help Center if you need more information on that.

Hosting the hybrid webinar

Now that your webinar is set up you’re ready to test and/or host your webinar.

Navigate to the webinar dashboard and press ‘Dry run’ to test how hosting a hybrid webinar works. If you’re ready to host the real webinar, press the orange button labeled ‘Open live webinar’.

In the live/test environment, start the (test)webinar and navigate to the slides icon in the control panel, then press the video icon right below. Play the desired video by pressing the orange ‘START VIDEO’ button below it.

Tip! Don’t want to appear on screen until the very end? Start the webinar with a slide in ‘slide only’ mode, so your camera doesn’t appear to the viewers until you’re ready for it after the pre-recorded video has been played.

Once the video is finished (or ended manually), the webinar will switch back to live and you will be visible to the viewers.

Please note! When it comes to hybrid webinars, you have to manually start and end the webinar as you would with a live webinar.
